This passage might not just be a reference to the filme ‘ wanted’ but also a dedication to the audience to keep an eye on lupe’s lyrics.Morgan Freeman for instance is often associated with his stamping voice and Angelina Jolie’s signature feature are her lips.By using those symbols ( voice lips ) he wants the listeners to pay attention to the song content (not just rating a song by its beat and vocals what he mentions in another song ).It also implies that it is important what he says and it’s worth listening to it.

If we function properly and wait long enough the ice will thaw and take on the form of water.

So if we do exercise patience and wait long enough for the ice to thaw we are at the point where we can no long skate on the ice like Wayne Gretzky but still instead of delving deeper into thought we just find another way to skim the surface of the water… a jetski.

Also could be reference to Gretzky at a young age. His father had built him a rink in his backyard that he played on for hours on end. Then when the pond thawed (as in he got old enough to play for bigger teams) he took off like a jetski.

In relation to walking on water/thin ice “And they sink in the same sea that we walk
Not that we Jesus, we just don’t wait until it thaws” line from before. Now that its verse two, as form follows function, the ice has melted but its no problem because, as he skated over the first verse, he’s gonna jet ski through the second. Form and Function.

This is referring to how he’s conquered his fears; he’s not worried about them, its he’s got the top down on a convertible and is cruising around. It ties into the next line where he puts the roof up on his woes, meaning he’s protecting himself from those things that bring him down.

correction, it should read:
“put the TUB (ie. bathtub) down on my fears” [to contain him from scuba-ing way down low again]
which goes with the next line:
“put the roof up on my woes” [to contain him from flying so way up high again]

Lupe is from the Westside of Chicago, a poor neighborhood where many people turn to cooking crack to get by. Lupe used his raps to get out of the ghetto, so his lyrical bars, instead of crack, are on his metaphorical stove.

That being said, Lupe’s debut album was so amazingly addictive it could be compared to crack.

The second line could also be referencing Karl Marx’s critique of capitalism, Commodity fetishism, where people often ignore the human labor and relationships that are used to make the products people consume.
