The term “True and Living” is used amongst Five Percenters or the Nation of Gods and Earths as a way of explaining the “reality” of God. Within the teachings of the Nation of Gods and Earths, there are lessons, known as the 120 Lessons, which show that the idea of God being a “mystery” (as taught in Christianity) is a false teaching. In the 120 lessons, the “reality” of God is revealed that the “true and living” God is the black man himself!

“All your life you must teach truth of the true and living god, not a mystery spook”–Lord Jamar (“All For One” by Brand Nubian)

Because of this teaching, it is common amongst Five Percenters within their culture to refer to themselves as the “true and living”: gods.
