For two reasons:

  1. It’s hard, especially when you’re in your twenties, to appreciate how difficult it is to do anything. So basically unless you’ve produced a great movie you shouldn’t go around criticizing other people’s movies.
  2. Quoting Art and Fear: You are seldom in a position to grant (or withhold) approval on the one issue that really counts—namely, whether or not they’re making progress in their work.
