Celebrate the mistakes I hadn't made yet A Wake by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis (Ft. Evan Roman & Macklemore)

Drinking alcohol can lead to fun times in terms of celebrating, but can also lead to mistakes and unnecessary trouble.

As legendary drunkard Charles Bukowski once said, “If something bad happens you drink in an attempt to forget; if something good happens you drink in order to celebrate; and if nothing happens you drink to make something happen.”

Macklemore’s also suggesting that the habitual use of alcohol in the party lifestyle is really a celebration of the bad mistakes one will make while drunk. These “bad” decisions are made possible by the drunktaneous mindset and make life seem more exciting.

Just walk forward, see plaques on the wall
Oh yeah, in a second those will be all yours
Jimmy Iovine by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis (Ft. Ab-Soul & Macklemore)

Society makes us think that plaques and trophies are what we need in life (as Macklemore does at this point), but in reality those don’t mean very much. At least not to an ARTist

And we hold onto these nights
Trying to find our way home by the street light
Over time we figure out this is me, right
Learn a lot about your friends right around two A.M
Cowboy Boots by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis (Ft. Macklemore)

The nights where you stay out and party with your friends until 2 A.M. will be the ones you remember (or don’t remember) and value the most, like getting drunk and walking home. You learn a lot about yourself and everyone else from nights like this.

After enough of these nights, you start to figure out your personal characteristics. Should have a question mark after right. Because we think we know then it changes. We keep growing and changing.

Also, this could refer to the fact that people—arguably—tell the truth when they get drunk, you can find out a lot about them. You learn who some people really are when they are drunk because alcohol seems to accentuate certain characteristic of people. Also people seem to open up at night regardless of being drunk or not.

True friends are the ones that stick around with you until the end of the night — the ones that have your back no matter what. When you think someone is your friend, and then they do something sketchy after a night of drinking or whatever, you know that they aren’t who you thought they were.

In vino, veritas [in wine, truth].

To be young again
I guess it's relative
Cowboy Boots by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis (Ft. Macklemore)

Being literally young and “young” in the heart are two different things

Einstein’s theory of relativity states that time moves more slowly for an object approaching the speed of light; Speculating upon that if you surpass the speed of light, you could potentially go backwards in time, hence “to be young again”

It’s also relative in relation to the age of a person hearing the song. Macklemore is 30, so a 15 year-old might think it makes perfect sense he is lamenting about “being young again” but a 45 year-old might say “you ARE still young and you don’t even have a family or kids yet… go enjoy your youth while you still can!”

Party mountain
Some don't ever come down from around here
Cowboy Boots by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis (Ft. Macklemore)

Some people never escape the parting, fun-seeking lifestyle: once you party so “hard”, you reach an emotional high that is very extreme and craved again… Some come down from this high but others remain on “party mountain.”

The Capitol Hill neighborhood in Seattle is sometimes referred to as “Party Mountain” by locals, due to its altitude and the prevalence of nightlife.

Possibly a reference to the eponymous song from defunct Seattle hip hop group Mad Rad, who were known for ‘partying hard.’
