Gotti claims that in his days of living in the hood, he ran a drug ring with the most successful dealers and spent most of his time with the most ruthless of criminals. He worked day-in and day-out to earn his felonious cash, which ultimately led to him having to commit to some deeply sinful actions.

He knows that these actions won’t be simply forgotten, as even in his near flawless life of the rich and famous he’s haunted by the idea of being punished for his criminal operations.

This verse can be tied in with the rest in how Sia and her man both have had their fair share of pain and gain, being able to pin each other at some point during the relationship.

However, it’s important to see with this verse how it ends with Sia stating that the type of relationship they share is one that allows each of them to feel free, again alluding metaphorically to butterflies.

This verse further stresses the fighting between Sia and her man, saying that each of them has had to accept the blame at some point during their relationship. The amount of arguing and tough situations they’ve found themselves in no doubt has led to intense heavy alcohol consumption to drown out the turmoil between the both of them.

Sia involves many contradictions in her lines here to summarize the idea of a relationship that’s been through it all; they’ve been through many stages of loving and hating each other, but ultimately they can’t help but be drawn back to one another out of having a strong love connection.

While not physcially becoming the bully herself, the person Sia used to bully now has the tables turned in her favor as Sia is showing strong remorse for her actions. The long-term effect of Sia’s bullying made her feel like a rotten person later on in life.

Sia claims that any mess-ups in life can be forgotten by either confidence in one’s actions later on, or literally writing them down and setting them aflame. This statement would later be rephrased and elaborated upon on her later track “Burn The Pages” off of 1000 Forms of Fear.

As seen in the second verse, Sia’s man is also her safe haven, in that he is always there for her and is willing to put up with her instability no matter how frustrated he makes her – her man acting as if a true saint.

Sia admits without her man, the pain would be too much to handle alone and thus would lead to her slipping through the cracks into mental insanity. This amplifies her gratitude for him being there for her.

With this verse, Sia acknowledges she is falling apart through personal reflection as the wear and tear of time is becoming quite apparent from her appearance and actions.

Like clockwork, her man hides the pills that do more good than bad to Sia’s mental state, calms her breakdown from the deprivation of the drug through talking to her in a calming tone, and watches as her mental state slowly becomes temporarily stable.
