Yonas is on a mission to bring real lyrics and messages to the mainstream. Thus, he makes songs with heavy pop influence, often times even remixing actual pop songs. Due to the upbeat vibe of his music, he gets associated with softer MCs as if he doesn’t come from a ghetto background.

Truth be told, Yonas comes from a rough area of New York, as he explains in songs like Die Young and A Reason To Breathe. Despite his upbeat tempo and pop influences, he is in fact from the hood just like fellow MC Bobby Shmurda. Yonas uses Shmurda as an example as Bobby is known for rapping about his experiences in the slums. In a play on words, Yonas works Shmurda’s hit song Hot Nigga into the line.

Everybody says their hard and likes to think that their hard. Yonas is exposing the reality of most of these people. When they watch a fictitious TV show, they’ll brag and say they’d be tough if it were the situation of the show’s character. Some fans get so passionate about their TV that they get mad when a character makes a poor choice and ridicule them. Yonas is calling these people frauds, saying that when push comes to shove they would be just as cowardly as anyone else in a high-stakes situation.

Yonas is playing off the idea that rap is a race. You are behind Yonas as, let’s face it, he’s better than you, so all you can see is his back from your perspective. However, Yonas is going to be nice and turn around for you. That way, you can at least see the face of the front-runner whom you are chasing.

This line relates to the popular idiom, “walk a mile in my shoes.” The idea of the saying is essentially to not judge others because you do not know the complexity of their story or the background that they come from. It’s unfair to judge Chance’s character because you haven’t been in the situations he’s been in and faced the adversity he’s had to face growing up in Chicago.

Drake smokes some blunts until he has the warm smell of colitas rising up through the air. While it is good sportsmanship to pass the blunt to your neighbor, like sharing the basketball with the rest of your team, Drake prefers to keep it all to himself when he gets it because it’s just that good.

Swisher Sweets are a popular brand of cigar that you can freak (twist all the tobacco out) and refill with that sweet marijuana.

He compares the act of puffing and passing to basketball because he “hits swishes” or drains shots on the court rather than passing the ball. The double entendre is quite ironic due to his recent airball when playing with the Kentucky Wildcats.

A typical mortal would be scared by things like Godzilla and Attila the Hun, however Watsky is not your everyday man.

He’s so awesome, that he isn’t phased by Godzilla and is even going to defeat Attila the Hun!

What a badass.

Watsky was an energetic little kid, running around and having the time of his life, ever since he was born.

He gives the imagery of a baby swinging from building to building like Spiderman with his untied bellybutton to demonstrate how early on he began acting like this.

Scal would like nothing more than to celebrate with the Celtics when they hang their 18th banner as the winningest franchise in basketball history. Given their current roster, this could mean that Scal might be sticking around for a while.

When they win, Scal will celebrate in the fashion of the late, great Red Auerbach, who coached the Celtics to not 1, not 2, not 3, not 4, not 5, not 6, not 7, not 8, but 9 championships. Scal will smoke a Cuban as the greatest commentator of all-time as a tribute to the greatest coach of all-time.

This is a clear humorous parody of Lebron James' “I’m Coming Home” in which he commented on coming from the streets of Akron and how Ohio was forever his home.

The White Mamba may not have been born in Boston territory, but he was widly accepted and has been in the hearts of Bostonians ever since his 2008 Championship. He has been heavily missed by Bostonians due to the team’s recent struggles, but finally the most loved man in basketball is returning to his real hometown.

For Scal, Enumclaw is nothing when compared to Boston. Sure, he got some cash off a paper route in Washington, but he forgot all about it in 2005 when the Celtics showed him what real money was and in 2008, when Boston decided they liked it, so they put a ring on it.
