Tobe references a variety of music artists to display his multifaceted nature.

Fela Kuti was a Nigerian multi-instrumentalist considered to be one of the pioneers of the Afrobeat genre. His lyricism often included social and political commentary, which is prevalent in Tobe’s music as well. Additionally, it speaks to Tobe’s Nigerian heritage.

Griselda is a hip-hop collective consisting of the core members Benny The Butcher, Conway the Machine, and Westside Gunn, all of whom are hard-hitting rappers whose music predominantly deals with the harsh realities of low-income neighborhoods. Tobe himself is a product of a difficult upbringing, growing up in Alief, Texas, contributing to the more assertive side of him.

Marvin Winans is a pastor and a gospel singer whose musical output goes back to the ‘70s. While some of Tobe’s lyricism might be regarded as somewhat aggressive, his music also frequently promotes hope, positivity, and the power of faith, as he is a man of strong Christian spirituality.

J. Cole plays with the dual meaning of “shells,” referring to both eggshells, and shells from bullets. A bullet is a projectile, and the shells are the casings covering the bullet, making up a round of ammunition. Shell casings can be found in the area where firearms have been used.

The Easter Bunny is a folkloric creature with mysterious origins who brings Easter eggs. While Biblical scriptures have no mention of this bunny, he has become a symbol associated with Easter celebrations. Representing rebirth and fertility, eggs have been for centuries a central part of Easter traditions, which are colorfully decorated and hunted to commemorate the occasion.

It is probably safe to assume that the gentle Easter Bunny would not be too thrilled about coming across shell casings.

The sitcom Seinfeld is often dubbed as “the show about nothing” since it does not follow any particular plotlines, and basically just deals with the characters' daily lives. Episode 3 of season 4, titled “The Pitch,” has a story arc where the characters of Seinfeld pitch a show about nothing, all happening within the show about nothing. The Seinfeld reference is utilized here to emphasize how other rappers have no substance in their music.

In the Marvel comics, Deadpool and Spider-Man frequently bump into each other, and have mostly had a love/hate relationship with one another. Deadpool loves Spider-Man, and Spider-Man often hates Deadpool. However, for better or worse, Spideypool absolutely is a dynamic duo. Despite their differences, the two characters are quite similar; Spider-Man is a lot tamer than his more morally ambiguous counterpart, but they are both super quippy, often bantering back and forth. Whether begrudgingly or not, they make a good team, and their team-ups are loved among fans.

Deadpool, a wise-cracking mercenary from Marvel Comics, was originally designed as a rip-off of Deathstroke, a no-nonsense assassin from DC Comics. They both love shooting guns and wielding swords, their outfits are near-identical, and they are both agile, skilled fighters. Even Deadpool’s government name, Wade Wilson, is a direct reference to Deathstroke’s government name, Slade Wilson. While they do resemble each other in some ways, their personalities, however, are entirely different, and Deadpool has solidified his position as his own independent character over the years.

There have been many instances of white people, white women in particular, calling the cops on black people for no good reason. They often cite “feeling threatened” or “being assaulted” as reasons for their calls, but it is quite apparent that these actions are fueled by racism, considering the black people in question being accused are not actually guilty of anything. One such example is “BBQ Becky,” who, in April of 2019, called the cops on two black men barbecuing in an Oakland park. In response to this incident, the local Oakland community threw an even larger barbecue party.
