But it would be the Hokies who would jump out to a strong start in the first half and getting a 21-7 lead by halftime, however the Buckeyes would start their comeback, tying the game in the fourth quarter 21-21, but was stopped short as Virgina Tech scored 14 unanswered points, including a pick six by Donovan Riley as Ohio State tried to comeback in the final minutes.

Although the game seemed close with Auburn leading 14-7 at the end of the first quarter, the Tigers would start to run away with it after the second quarter, outscoring San Jose State 45-6 for the rest of the game.
Auburn’s ground game would proceed to dominate the visiting Spartans, gaining 300+ yards on the ground behind Cameron Artis-Payne and Nick Marshall with the both of them running for a combined 200+ yards and 4 touchdowns.
San Jose State couldn’t get much going on offense after scoring their only touchdown in the first quarter and had a hard time trying to slow down Auburn’s offense throughout the game.

Things seemed tough for Auburn at first, missing QB Nick Marshall for a half, and the game being tied 21-21 after the first half, but they would turn it around in the second half shutting down Arkansas and outscoring the Razorbacks 24-0 on the way to a 45-21 victory in their season debut.
San Jose State showed that even though they lost QB David Fales to the draft they are confident in QB Blake Jurich, who went 22-25 with three passing touchdowns and one rushing touchdown in a 42-10 blowout over North Dakota, but will have a tougher challenge this weekend against Auburn.
Fun Fact: This will be the first ever meeting between these two teams.
