Quick fact about Black Milk’s statement: “My shit is Martin Luther, your shit is Martin Lawrence” This may be a rap genius moment, but Martin Luther was the first one to develop Anti-Semitic conjecture and philosophy. The pamphlet/book he wrote: “The Jews and Their Lies” can still be bought on Amazon, and interestingly enough was the primary book Adolf Hitler drew from to inspire his adherents while developing lies against an entire culture of peoples. Now Lutheran’s don’t know or would rather not discuss that the founder of their church and Protestantism is primarily responsible, alongside Hitler, for one of the biggest slaughters and pillaging in world history. But I really think what Black is trying to say is “people will follow what I say in Church and what you say they just laugh at”. Still it begs the infinite question, do emcees really know everything they are saying all the time when they are making dense lyrics. Especially alongside monster lyricists like Royce and Elzhi (the latter of who is the only one thought possible to have successfully recreated Illmatic), he needed to come with it. He definitely did, but does everyone really know Martin Luther, is the question. Let’s hope it was a reference to Dr. King, which is most likely, being the heavy hitting very cerebral emcee that he is. Martin Luther, -King, is not much of an actual hero in any sense of the word.
