This line is in reference to the death of Socrates as documented by Plato in his dialogue “Crito.” In the dialogue, Socrates' good friend Crito attempts to free a locked Socrates from jail, who after being put to trial for corrupting the youth, was sentenced to death.

Throughout the dialogue Socrates discounts the many reasons Crito gives as for why he should escape with him, humbly accepting his sentence under the general belief that if he were to escape, it would go against all the philosophical ideals he had taught over the course of his life.

Cayea compares himself to Socrates in this way, claiming that he is willing to die for his philosophical beliefs as well.
