‘Cartels’ may be in reference to the people moving product ( his music ) e.g. Shady Records, saying his wealth lead him to being on a yacht… hence the “sail”/sales metaphor.

He also implies that those who care about
album sales are followers who will never know success.

Royce may even be subliminally using “argh” and you “knot” line as a way to work in the concept of a pirate.

Possibly alluding to the Joe Budden song “Pump It Up” from back in the early 2000’s

However, he’s probably talking about fellow Beast Coast rapper Joey Bada$$ here, since he refers to him again later.

Meech doesn’t need help to pump his shotgun, or more likely he’s talking about success in the rap game. Despite Joey’s standout status amongst the underground NY crowd, the ZOMBiES don’t need his cosign or to hold his hand. Regardless, Joey still helped promote the album on social media.

Joe wrote a verse for the first song on Welcome To: Our House, “Our House”, but it didn’t make the album version of the song. Instead, he was relegated to a 2 bar interlude.

Royce plays off the stereotype that police officers love eating donuts and the media attention, in 2014, of white officers shooting and/or killing black males, young and old.

You may not be a victim of police brutality, but you could be Royce’s.

Whine (to complain) and a reference to Dutty Wine, playing on the whine/wine homonym.

Also, whining is considered a form of weakness, which ties in with the “Solar’s Letter” line a few bars later, and also a reference to other rappers' content: all they do is whine in their songs, while Joell only celebrates his victories, like he says in the next couple of lines.

As he said on “Can I Live” off his classic debut album, Reasonable Doubt:

I’d rather die enormous, than live dormant

Fortunately for Hov, he only had near brushes with death and came out pretty successful in life.

There’s a play on the word ghost both literally and in the term ghostwriter.

Also, if Soul claims to be Jesus Christ then he is also claiming to be part of the Trinity; which is Jesus Christ, God the Father, and the Holy Spirit or commonly known as the Holy Ghost.

Ab is simply stating that he has another form that could write for him. The assistance could come from a literal ghostwriter (someone who composes lyrics for you) or an actual ghost.

Also the people who wrote the Bible are said to have received divine inspiration for the words and imagery used within the context of the Bible. Ab could be using this to show how he is being helped.

He knows he’s flawed in relation to the women he’s been with, in that he cuts them off and pays them no mind. He’s either hot or cold, and women can’t stand that.

Also note the wordplay, “off switch” and “ up the wall” both have double meanings, an off switch is usually on your wall.
