For many rappers, the goal of making it in the music industry is as much to escape a life of crime or poverty as it is to make good music. As a result of this, many rappers capitalise upon their musical success and get endorsement deals with various brands or products. Well-known examples of this are the G-Unit line of shoes with Reebok;

and the Run-D.M.C. deal with Adidas

Here are some of the more bizarre examples.

Milo is poking fun at the commercialism of hip hop, where brand name french fries might not be as outlandish as they sound.

A shot at the disordered priorities of mainstream hip hop and their obsession with rims on their cars..

Showing the hypocrisy embedded in all class relations, the two positions (that those who have less are inferior, but that the rich can be criticised for being arrogant) are mutually exclusive – they can’t both rationally be held.

People classified as ‘geniuses’ are often mentally unstable, especially those involved in some sort of art. Being brilliant often results in eccentric behaviour, to the point that there is an exceptionally fine line between brilliance and insanity.

It could be about “God”, cause sometimes he may think “she” is a genius, and often he rather thinks she is “insane”.

Excessive drinking can lead to eyes being bloodshot, as alcohol reduces oxygen to your red blood cells, causing blood vessels to clump together and resulting in a ruddy complexion and red, bloodshot eyes. This is also not the first time Slug has spoken about himself being in this state.

Slug is well-known for being self-depreciating in his music, speaking more about his weaknesses than his strengths and exposing himself emotionally(which is EXACTLY what he is doing with this line). Because his weakness and emotions are accessible to anybody who hears his records, his fans are all aware of his life’s problems and this leads Slug to think that that would put them off him.

Being a massive fan of hip hop himself, Slug is aware of the level of obsession which fans have over music. This leads to an interesting paradox which Slug finds himself in – his friends like him, but his fans worship him.

Slug starts off with some advice from the perspective of being homeless, a perspective which he has taken on other songs such as Free or Dead and more recently The Waitress.
