Baha Men

AKA: The Baha Boys

About Baha Men

The Baha Men are a Bahamian junkanoo band from The Bahamas. The band formed in 1977 under the name High Voltage where they played funk and disco music. For many years they self released albums and played in hotels and clubs. in 1991 the band was discovered by Atlantic Records and the band was signed to its subsidiary, Big Beat. At this time the band changed its name to the Baha Men. The band’s first two albums; Junkanoo and Kalik got some attention, but only in the Bahamas. It wasn’t until the release of Who Let the Dogs Out in 2000 that the band got worldwide fame. The song of the same name, which is a cover song, landed on charts all over the world and even won the band a Grammy Award. The fame was short lived and the albums after that did not achieve the same fame.
