About David Dallas

David Dallas is an iconic MC from Papatoetoe, Auckland, NZ. He writes what he knows, exploring his personal experiences and unashamedly demonstrates with his braggadocios bars why he’s one of Australasia’s most respected writers.

He began his recording career under the moniker Con Psy and was catapulted into the spotlight when he was featured on the remix to one of New Zealand’s biggest-ever hip-hop singles, Scribe’s 2003 track “Not Many.” For reference, David had only recorded a handful of tracks in his bedroom when he recorded this verse.

With eyes on him, David released a 2004 mixtape and 2005 debut album as part of the duo Frontline alongside producer Nick “41” Maclaren. For the latter, they won Best Hip-Hop/Urban Album at the 2006 New Zealand Music Awards. Following this success, David went solo under his real name.

In 2015, David collaborated with Red Bull Studios Auckland for the 64 Bars project, where handpicked MCs were invited to flex their pen game and deliver 64 bars. This series has since been repeated in numerous countries.

David has released seven solo projects as of 2024. His 2024 project, VITA, was produced entirely by Maclaren – 20 years after their debut full-length project.
