About Dizzy Wright

Not many 21-year old rappers can say that they’ve been rapping for over a decade. The Las Vegas-based rapper began rapping at just 8 years old with the group DaFuture with his brother and very close friend – his mother wrote his raps at the time. “My Mom was like Joe Jackson,”
Says Wright, “She was a concert promoter so I was exposed to the music industry early – we even did youth reporting at major awards shows like the BET Awards.”

In November 2011, Wright signed to Funk Volume after being discovered at the Sheikh Music “Rip the Mic” Competition in 2010. Impressed by his smooth flow, confident stage presence and energy that won over the crowd, Funk Volume knew he was a special talent and would be
valuable addition to the team.

In April 2012 Dizzy released his first Funk Volume album, SmokeOut Conversations, and followed it up two months after that with a free mixtape, Free SmokeOut Conversations. The
album reached as high as #2 on the iTunes hip-hop chart, while the mixtape has now been downloaded over 170,000 times. The success of these two projects allowed Dizzy to headline his own national 30-city tour.

Dizzy finished off the year by joining his labelmates on the Funk Volume 2012 Tour, and releasing the first of four EPs titled The First Agreement. The EP reached #4 on the iTunes hiphop chart, and capped a huge year for him. Dizzy created a lot of momentum in 2012, 2013 was even a bigger year landing a spot of XXL’s Freshman’s list & dropping a mixtape that was considered one of the best of the year on various list, The Golden Age.

His upcoming tape, State Of Mind EP is coming 4/15/2014
