Electric Light Orchestra

AKA: ELO and Jeff Lynne's ELO

About Electric Light Orchestra

Roy Wood, Jeff Lynne and Bev Bevan from Birmingham, England formed the progressive pop-rock band Electric Light Orchestra (ELO) in 1970, best known for their poppy, futuristic, and classical sound.

The band underwent numerous lineup changes, officially disbanding in 1988. Roy Wood left the band in 1972 and Bev Bevan founded his own band, ELO Part II, following the band’s break-up. In 2001, after acquiring Bevan’s share of the ELO name, Lynne attempted a reunion as the only member, but due to poor album sales, the following tour was cancelled. In 2014, following what was supposed to be a one-off concert in Hyde Park, Jeff Lynne attempted another reunion as the sole member of the band, and has been touring as Jeff Lynne’s ELO ever since. Two new albums, Alone In The Universe and From Out Of Nowhere, were released in 2015 and 2019 respectively.

During ELO’s original run, they sold 50 million, achieving 21 RIAA, 19 CRIA, and 38 BPI awards.
