About Geographer

Geographer is an American indie rock band from San Francisco, CA. As described by Geographer’s lead singer Mike Deni, their sound can be described as “soulful music from outer space”. Their album Animal Shapes consists of some of their most notable songs such as Kites and Night Winds.

Deni grew up in New Jersey but left for San Francisco to start the band now known as Geographer. Deni, along with Nathan Blaz and Brian Ostreicher, released their first three albums, Innocent Ghosts, Animal Shapes, and Ghost Modern. While touring for Ghost Modern, Blaz and Ostreicher stepped down and were replaced by Joyce Lee (cellist), Duncan Nielsen (brass player), and Cody Rhodes (drummer).
