About Hasbro

Hasbro is an American multinational toy company and entertainment producer.

The company was founded on 6 December 1923 as Hassenfeld Brothers by Henry Hassenfeld, Hillel Hassenfeld and Herman Hassenfeld. They sold textile remnants. Over the next two decades the company expanded to make pencil cases and school supplies, eventually making their first toys in the 1940s. Their first big success was with Mr. Potato Head in 1952. Following this the company become a major Disney licensee and also started to make G.I. Joe action figures in 1964. In 1969 Hasbro purchased Burt Claster Enterprises which produced the television show Romper Room and its related toy line.

In the 1980s Hasbro began producing its famous My Little Pony toy line as well as acquiring the Milton Bradley Company which manufactured the game Twister.

Hasbro continues to be one of the largest toy companies in the world with licenses for Star Wars and Disney Princesses among others. In 2014 they were also in talks to buy DreamWorks Animation, but these fell through.
