About Mashonda

Mashonda Karima Tifrere (nee Dean) is an American R&B singer originally from Boston, Massachusetts, born January 9, 1978. She made her presence felt in the music world in the 2000s, collaborating with several hip-hop artists such as Cassidy, Eve, Jay-Z, DMX, Fat Joe, and more.

In 2004, she married record producer Swizz Beatz and was signed to his Full Surface label under J Records. Her first studio album, titled “January Joy,” was released in November 2005 in Japan and was supported by two singles written in collaboration with Swizz Beatz: “Back of da Club,” on which he was also a guest , and “Blackout,” in which she collaborated with Snoop Dogg.

In March 2009, she released a mixtape titled “The Renovation Series” online and took a break from her music career to raise her son. In 2012, she released an EP titled “Love, Mashonda,” and in 2021, she released two new tracks, “Honey, I See You (Love Changes),” the follow-up to her viral TikTok hit, “Love Changes.” and “King”, in help to promote Mashonda’s comeback to music. In 2022, she released a new EP called “Note To Self”
