About Mocha

Mocha, despite being one of the more influential female rappers from the 90’s and being associated with some of the biggest East Coast names from the era such as Missy Elliott, Timbaland and Total, has largely become a footnote in the history of rap. The New York native had a promising career as one of Missy Elliott’s upcoming proteges and appeared as a feature on many big name singles such as Nicole Wray’s debut single “Make it Hot” and Missy Elliott’s “Hit Em Wit' Da Hee”. In addition, she racked up collaboration opportunities with Destiny’s Child, Mariah Carey, and DJ Clue.
She released her debut single “Runnin' Shit” in 2000 and was supposed to follow it up her debut solo album, “Bella Mafia”: it was unfortunately shelved, thus making her fade away from the mainstream.
