About Shaunta

Shaunta Montgomery (born 1977) is a rapper from Compton, California. She was signed to Atlantic Records (1997-2000), Dr. Dre’s Aftermath Entertainment (2000-2003) and Shadoworld Entertainment (2004-2006).

She began her career in 1995, appearing on Montell Jordan’s debut album. This allowed the pair to collaborate further, as well as for Shaunta to tour with LL Cool J on the R. Kelly-headlined Down Low Top Secret Tour in 1996. Her highest-profile engagements then followed, in the form of features on Timbaland & Magoo’s 1997 single “Luv 2 Luv U”, and Brandy’s 1999 hit “U Don’t Know Me (Like U Used To)”. She additionally appeared on the soundtracks of Dr. Dolittle (1998), The Wash (2001) and 8 Mile (2002).
Other artists she collaborated with include Changing Faces, Chino XL, Eric Benét, Da Brat, Somethin' for the People and Truth Hurts.

Her debut album (entitled “Shaunta”) was due for release in 2002 but remains shelved. She recorded another album in 2005 (entitled “The Diamond Lane”), however this also did not see the light of day.
