South Park Mexican

AKA: Carlos Coy and SPM

About South Park Mexican

South Park Mexican, born Carlos Coy, is a rapper and producer, and the founder of Dope House Records. He moved to the South Park neighborhood of Houston when he was 12 years old—a move he claims saved his life. This also inspired his stage name, since South Park is a predominantly black neighborhood.

In 1995, he released his first album, Hillwood. The album wasn’t a huge success, but gave him enough recognition to keep him going. It wasn’t until fourth album, The 3rd Wish: To Rock the World’s, that he had a hit record with “High So High.” He has released a total of eleven albums, the latter four while he was incarcerated.

SPM was convicted of aggravated sexual assault of a child in 2002. He was sentenced to 45 years in prison. He is eligible for parole in 2024 and, as of 2019, is serving his time at the Ramsey Unit in Rosharon, TX.
