Ok, other than Warren G and Nate Dogg, can someone recommend some good G-funk-esque artists? Heck, even some of like George Clinton’s shit could be counted as G-Funk, so post whatever. Just any smooth, west-coast type shit you know of, let me know. |

This thread might point you in a good direction. Don’t listen to G-funk to often myself but those might be worth a try! |

Even it’s not west coast or necessarily G, but Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik by Outkast has a lot of funk sounds in it. |

will do guys, thanks. Oh I found this guy named Kashif, he’s got some good beats. And would some of AZ’s songs kinda count as G Funk? I feel like Sugar Hill is sorta g-funk-esque. |

@ISelfDivine — Good list, but I don’t understand how you include Cypress Hill; especially their first album, which is ultra-dusty, looped, SP-1200 type gritty production — virtually the exact opposite of “g-funk.” To the OP, here are some rec’s: Above the Law Uncle Sam’s Curse |

Basically, you should be looking for west-coast “gangster” type of rap from 1993-95 or so. There are some that would fit the bill outside of that era, but that’s your best bet. Oh, I thought of another one: MC Breed from that era (look up “No Future in Your Frontin'”, and also DFC Things in Tha Hood. Look those up on YouTube! |

Daz, Koke, Quik & ATL are new for you? Damn, I was gonna ether the thread with some underground shit, but I’d be better off naming some of the better known ones.
What Kashif are you guys talking about btw? You got a link to his Discogs? The only Kashif coming to my mind would be the B.T. Express member |

That’s great, Quik might be my favourite artist ever, actually. But do you have a link to Kashif’s discogs, or maybe even a link to one of his Youtube songs? I’ll find my way from there on |

Oh thanks, that’s indeed Kashif the B.T. Express member. Also, if you like SCC, you might want to check out Havoc & Prodeje, a duo consisting out of two of SCC’s members |

Listen to Xzibit’s Restless album if you haven’t, it’s a more 2001-esque kind of album. It’s also kinda similar to The Documentary so if you like that and 2001 you should like Restless. |
