Breath Control/Voice Projection (Back to the forum)

When I started recording, I would breathe from my chest and just raise my voice, but I would end up running out of breath. Eventually someone taught me to breathe from my stomach for Metal Growls and I found it gave you WAY more air when rapping without straining. How do you guys breathe when rapping? Do you have another way to breathe? How well do you project your voice? |

diaphragmatic breathing (what your doing) is the only way to breathe. Short breaths from the chest is shit tier. |

more often then not, i hear people getting too excited too fast right in the recording session, causing exhaustion and weakness. and the structure of the lyrics usually is another major factor..to many words in the bars, and bad punchlines they absolutely have to keep..i come prepared, knowing it has to sound the same way each and every time..cool and calm.. |

I cosign louievillesluggs, what you said about dudes going in to anxious, fucks their shit up. cool calm collected is always best for flow/delivery of more complicated line structure (which we all love more here on rg for the most part) |

I did choral music for years so I got advanced training on diaphragmic breathing. Shit is handy. |

You’re doing all of the right things, but here are some other exercises that can complement diaphragmatic breathing.
Good post, OP. |
