Hip-hop trends you're glad that have died out. (Back to the forum)

Da tall tee and doo rags

Non-gangsters not being able to rap.

I can’t wait for this “dress as street or skate as you can”-tumblr/Odd Future-influenced trend to die out. the most suburban Fucken kids ever will dress like they’re straight outta compton or new york.

I’m hoping that the whole 3rd eye/spirituality trent dies very soon. I liked when Ab-Soul did it but ever since Pro Era jocked it it’s become straight A1 :basura:

People attaching a certain manner of dress to a specific location/demographic.

The whole “third-eye” thing extends far deeper than just hip-hop. The whole “new-age spirituality” bullshit needs to go away.

I liked it when that “actor rapper” shit went out. Oh wait…

@Future_Vandross Ab Soul didnt start “Third Eye” , and you probably like when he did it because thats your fav rapper and you will like anything he does. Pro Era BEEN on this ‘third eye trend’ and others been on it longer than them.

Pro Era has no idea what opening their third eye even means.

I’ll admit to not doing any significant research but any good that could’ve come from the movement has now been made unenjoyable for me. As for Ab-Soul being my favorite rapper, c'mon son peep the avy

@butters your therd eye isnt even opened bruhbruh

mine is, flying elephants and purple tunnels homie

@Future_Vandross Ab Soul didnt start “Third Eye”…Pro Era BEEN on this ‘third eye trend’ and others been on it longer than them

This

Doo Rags aren’t a trend, they’re a hair product. I’m glad non-nappy people aren’t wearing doo rags though. Honestly, the biggest trends that need to go are skinny jeans, extreme sagging and rocking 80’s fashion.

And 3rd Eye movement as you kids are calling it, has been around for decades. These young rappers did not start it. In fact, they haven’t started anything, they’re just rehashing.

I don’t see why people hate on Pro Era talking about their 3rd eye and shit, I actually kinda find it interesting. At least their gimmick is something different.

(the glasses not Yeezy)

BRING BACK THE 90S FASHION INCLUDING TIMBERLAND BOOTS

Funk Volume

Ringtone Rap.

@Trevar 60% of the boys in my school wear Timbs

the hipster movement thats going on now needs to go away, tigher jeans, skinny shirts, and these goofy ass shoes ppl be wearing now a day, they look like 1950’s amish ppl

but break dancing, thank god that crap is over with

Breakdancing isn’t a trend, it’s a basic part of Hip Hop. And people still wear Timbs, in fact they’re the preferred boot company for most Hip Hop heads, regardless of era.

I’m hoping that the whole 3rd eye/spirituality trend dies very soon

I’ve been researching this stuff since 2006, so I don’t want it to end persay, I just wish only those well informed on the matter reference it. It’s sad that something like this is now a ‘trend’ and people to do it to be ‘cool’, rather than an individual and personal journey to enlightenment. But whatever.

But I’m so glad that the whole ‘misogyny and the representation of women as sexual toys’ trend ended!
Oh, wait…

Someone’s chakras are lined up.

They been aligned playboi.
The reason I got into it is cos when I was about 11 or 12, I gave in a history essay (about the importance of the causes of WW2 and creating an alternative ending), and my teacher wrote on it

This was amazing. See me, I believe you are on the verge of enlightenment Ashleigh

LOL so I went and looked into what enlightenment was

I’ve always been infatuated with Eastern religions, especially the Asian ones.

One-hit-wonder rappers inventing dances to go with their (crap) song.

A trend I am eager to die out is the Tony Montana references.
They are getting so boring and repetitive. Future’s song was the final straw for me.

OT: But I do really want them to remake Scarface for its 30th or 50th birthday, its a good movie but the angles are poor and the ending scene needs a lot of work in terms of prosthetics.

1983 Scarface is already a remake/reboot, doesn’t need another one.

^ I know that its not the original
I always thought there should have been a part 2 but that’s unlikely, so I’d like to see a remake

Ringtone playbacks –.– da fuq? , ‘'Dance Era’‘ I.E-The Soulja Boy, Crank Dat x 99, Jerk, Spongebob, Cat Daddy or whatever, I’m glad that gimmick rapping is gone….for now oh god….also I’m happy to see the skinny jean fab come and go….FAGS…that is all

The whistling sound effect

I like the 3rd eye concept. I’m a fan of both Ab-Soul and Pro Era and I think it’s pretty interesting. At least it’s better than what most rappers are talking about. Also like all of my friends including me own tims and regularly wear them, just sayin. Glad that souja boy has passed on.

I’m just waiting for the end of the same shitty drums that almost all songs on the radio have these days, idk how to describe it but its been driving me fucking crazy.

As for the third eye concept I actually enjoy it, I’ve always been interested in it, though I do hate how it comes out basic and disjointed with misrepresentation at times, seriously at times it sounds like some amateur trying to sound wise.

Also does anyone know a great start to journey of enlightenment, as aforementioned I’ve always been interested but I have no idea how to truly begin.

Yall are wild… all hung up on what clothes and shit people are wearin.

@MFVoltron What, the TR-808? That shit’s been in hip-hop since the early 80s, I can guarantee that’s not dying any time soon.

Auto-tune.
