Do you think Ghostface's Ironman could be classified as a Mafioso Hip Hop Album
I was just wondering cause it had that blaxploitation feel to it and you can tell some of the beats on the album had the Only Built 4 Cuban Linx energy in it. What do you guys think
It has a blaxploitation feel, but not really a mafioso feel
It was gritty but not mafiaso, its the same misconception with IWW.
Blaxpoitation isn’t mafioso. When I think blaxpoitation I think along the lines of Outkast’s Aquemini.
I would say no. Illmatic, Ready to Die, 36 Chambers are too gritty to be mafisio. They were more about doing crime on the corner, whereas with mafioso, rappers are playing big kingpins, living a glamorous lifestyle while dabbling in criminal activities from a distance.
Nothing about that album rings mafioso. That album had a 70’s, blaxploitation feel to it, especially because RZA was throwing in those “The Education of Sonny Carson” samples in there.
“Fish” is pretty mafioso
