Fuck Gucci Mane
For real, fuck him. In our minds, he isn’t even hip hop – he’s a pop artist. Don’t believe us? Look at his latest collaboration. He’ll never make it to our ipod, he’ll never make it to our itunes, and he won’t ever be downloaded. But oddly enough, to some of his most popular hits like Lemonade and Wasted we’ll know every word. It’s because Gucci Mane makes club music. On a Friday night when the team heads out and we’re drinkin, he’ll be played. We’ll love it. We’ll dance to it and vibe to the beat while every single fucking hoe with an ambition to get laid eats it up. We’ll hear the same song 2 or 3 times throughout the night, and it still won’t get old. We’ll slurp in the hard beat to Lemonade like it’s a hot summer day.
But that’s it.
He won’t be bumped the next morning, in the car, at work, and he most certainly will not be bumped at our weekly #HipHopHighlights meeting, even if he does have a new mixtape coming out.
Why the hate?
Horrendous lyrics, a weak flow, and above all, the man has a damn ice cream cone tattooed on his face. The beat is what makes his songs popular and most of his major club/radio hits are produced by Bangladesh and Fatboi, who go vastly under appreciated but are the true stars. Any lowlife with a dumb tattoo on their face can mumble over a beat about money, weed, and bitches. It takes a true star to paint a verbal picture about the struggle of abortion (Lost Ones), write a heartfelt letter expressing a son’s love for his mother (Dear Mama), to depict a painstaking rape and murder (Dance with the Devil), or to tell a compelling murder story backwards (Rewind). That real music, that emotional music, those lyrical songs, that is what we listen too.
Gucci Mane is fucking talentless, but plays his part well. We appreciate the club bangers, but Gucci you are a large part of the reason hip hop has the negative stigma attached of abusing women, promoting drug use, and glorifying immorality.
So Gucci, just to sum up how we feel – In the club, we fuck with you, but otherwise? Fuck you.

Why are you talking like their is more than one of you?
I’m confused, Gucci sucks but so do you.
@SecondComing He said “In our minds” so I’m assuming he’s got multiple personalities or some shit
You are a fucking idiot
Um Gucci has an ill flow. And I bump Gucci in the whip at parties wherever. I have a few select sogs for him in my iPod. He’s not very lyrical but he’s fucking fun to listen to. You need to be more open minded and I’m talking to all of you wen I say this the op not everyone on the thread
The post is too long so i didn’t bother to read it.
@Chase your kinda like that friend that follows people a group of people around and pretends to be a part of the group but in reality no one likes you.
Go ahead, speak on behalf of a community you clearly dont understand.
Open-minded my black ass.
He’s an embarrassment to African Americans and is a prime example of WHY so many people frown upon AAs in America.
Nas stated it best:
“Too many rappers, athletes and actors
But not enough niggas in N.A.S.A”
Gucci Mane is NOT helping the situation but rather perpetuating juvenile palaver.
We’re an intelligent species, so ACT LIKE IT.
Overall I agree with Chase’s OP.
Really though? People are gonna look at Gucci Mane and think that he represents the whole of the black community? That’s ignorant as hell.
Also, if you don’t like Gucci Mane just don’t listen to him. I checked his video once, and I didn’t like one bit of it, so I never went back to any of his songs and I’ve just ignored him. So should you. Stop wasting energy on hating on him like a got damn fool. I can’t even understand how you can hate on a dude for making music you don’t like. He could be a nice dude in his free time for all you know.
Gucci Mane is a party rapper. Nothing more, nothing less. I don’t know, but I guess he fills that niche nicely. I’ve never heard Gucci mention that he’s the next Tupac. I’ve never heard him say that he’s a lyrical monster. I’ve never heard him claim that he’s the greatest rapper alive. Hip hop needs some party rappers, to make it more diverse.
You need to understand, that not all people are music nerds like you. Not everyone are searching around to find gems, or whatnot. A lot of people don’t care much about what artists say, they just want something to vibe to. When people are drinking and partying they don’t wanna listen to how much Tupac loves his mother, or how brilliantly Nas can tell a story.
Now I don’t like his music, so I just ignore it and I don’t get annoyed by it. My problem is that he’s gloryfied to such an extent that actual talented rappers are being overlooked. Gucci doesn’t make good music, he makes good party music. For partying purposes only. That’s fine. You can vibe out to his music and enjoy it. But some people actually believe what Gucci does takes talent; and that’s what I have a problem with. Once I was bumping Lowkey in the car with a friend, and he was spitting some thought-provoking shit, and my friend skipped the songs. He had never heard the songs I was playing, and he wanted to hear popular songs that he had heard. That is what gets me. Don’t blame the artist, blame the fans.
Nothing everything that is mainstream is trash, and not everything that is underground is great. There are narrow-minded ignorant fans on both sides. Ya feel me.
Man, I’m just rambling.
He, and guys like Waka, fulfill a niche in rap. He isn’t Nas, but he isn’t supposed to be a Nas-type rapper. It’s ridin' music. Let it go
