Lupe Fiasco Has Potential To Be Top 10?

Absolutely, if keeps up what he’s been doing, he’ll get there.
Love you Lupe!

In philosophy, according to Aristotle, every human has the potential to become anything.

But nah. . . GTFOH nigga.

Potential? Obviously. He has got the skills, attitude and that X factor. He already has two future classics and if he puts out a couple more albums like F&L, he’ll be up there for atleast a mention in the top 10.

Definitely.. has the skill to be, just needs the discography now.

He’s already top 5 alive… so yeah I’m buying.

Definitely if he doesn’t release another album like Lasers. Lupe is already top 10 for me

Lupe is definitely the guy I wanted to be as a rapper for, like, years. He’s made a few bad choices but he’s got mad skill, he’s got the potential to go down as one of the greats for sure.

What he needs are a couple more records under his belt, and he’s set. He’s nearing Top 5 of all time for me. His next album is crunch time; his rep will be virtually destroyed if F&L2 doesn’t make up for Lasers.

I’d personally like to see Lupe do more features. That’s a good way to get your name out there, and show off flashes of your genius. Think Andre 3000.

I got 4 thumbs down? Lolwut

“He already has two future classics”

The fuck is a future classic? You can’t have something certified as a classic when it can’t even be classified yet

I don’t understand why he got the thumbs down. I don’t see Lupe as a future top 10. I really like his first two albums, but the fact that no one outside of hardcore Lupe fans considers them classics should tell you that they aren’t really classics. I mean any time you end your album with a 15 minute outro just thanking people pretty much disqualifies yourself. The Cool has about 4 tracks (Free Chilly, Hi Definition, Hello/Goodbye, and Fighters) that I regularly skip over and a bad intro. Not a classic right there. Nothing really needs to be said about Lasers either.

Lupe is above the vast majority of his peers as far as skill level, but hasn’t done anything legendary or different in his career thus far. Everyone knows I always question Kanye’s impact on hip hop, but Ye objectively carved out a space for himself in hip hop since College Dropout and if at any point in the past or present had he decided to stop rapping his presence would have been greatly missed. I can’t yet say that about Lupe.

Mannn Waka has mo potential after one album

Lupe only has one classic (Food & Liquor) which is why I say he just needs to work on his discography now. He has the skill to be up there though.. his wordplay and entendres are some of the best ever.. he’s had some great concepts, etc. Very solid discography also minus Lasers with all those nice Mixtapes, minus FOTP as well lol

The reason I think Lupe gets such a bad rep is because he’s like that 6'6" kid in the park who comes outside and plays ball everyday, but cannot score. Like he’ll be on a fastbreak, go up for the dunk uncontested, be head level with the rim, and then airball it. The kind of kid that makes you shake your head and mutter the classic: “Tall for nothing.” or even the other one: “If I was your height I would be throwing that down all the time.”

Shaneee, how can you say minus FOTP. Everyone hating on his beat selection on that can gtfo. They were pretty dope and his lyrics were great as always.

Lupe’s first two albums are like Gohan during the Cell Saga in my opinion, while Lasers is more like the Great Saiyaman (Buu Saga). While entertaining, it’s not as powerful as the previous saga. Lupe needs to stop playing and go back to that Super Saiyan 2 style before he gets lapped by a Goku rapper (someone who isn’t as good but puts in WORK).

TLDR: Everyone needs to rewatch DBZ.

That was awesome. ^ Lupe will be top 10, but only if he really, REALLY goes hard in this next album. Lasers was rough.

yo fred… that was the greatest metaphor of all-time. Yes. I’m saying that on a site which has the greatest metaphors of all-time explained… that tops them all.

lupe has had one “bad” album and a mixtape that i feel has a lot of undeserving hate. what exactly is it that you dont like about fotp? is it the beats? because if you hate a mixtape with pretty dope wordplay, and these are the people who claim to like music for the lyrics are the ones hating, how does that work? some people are way to close minded when it comes to this mixtape and way to negative for beats that i personally liked. and as always, his wordplay was on point.

@Dyaz By future classics I mean the albums which have the potential to be classics, content and skill wise but yet is to stand the test of time. An album that doesn’t sound fresh to me after 10 years isn’t a classic for me.

FOTP was mostly me hating the beats, yes but on top of that lyrically it wasn’t as good as previous Lupe..
Like compared to Failure, Conflict Diamonds, Mean & Viscous, the things he did to the beats on EOTS, etc
just not on that level

Why did I get the thumbs down for asking the question lol

No, he’s wack. Sorry.

Please, justify yourself.^

lupe music is horrible & he get no respect from real chicago artists

hmmm might want to take lupe joint out your mouth buddy

Lol, sent my posts to their maker. In a nutshell, I don’t like top 10 lists, but for someone to be on a list like that they’d need to make a huge impact through their skill and material. Lupe has the skill and potential, but even with a classic under his belt already, it’d be a big task for him to displace people like The Notorious B.I.G., 2Pac, Jay-Z, Nas, Rakim, Eminem and others. Maybe a thread about what it takes to be a Top 10 MC? Although we all know where that’d go lol.

Lupe is wack
