Food And Liqour 2 (Back to the forum)

Lupe announced that he is letting Atlantic Records listen to Food and Liqour 2 for the first time today. Bishop G, a member of Lupe’s label, also said that the album will be a double album with the second part coming a couple months later. Thoughts?

What people don’t seem to realize is that Lupe has released all his solo albums on Atlantic records. If you bought The Cool or Food and Liquor you gave some money to Atlantic, but he did lose a lot of creative control with Lazers and ultimately it felt agonizing to listen to because it was agonizing to make. As long as Atlantic doesn’t change anything it will be great.

^That’s true but after listening to FOTP it makes you realize that was somewhat the direction Lupe wanted to go with Lasers. Hopefully he gets back on his old shit on hip-hop beats.

Also on an interview not that long ago someone asked if Pharrell was producing anything for the album and he said yes, but didn’t mention their album they announced unfortunately.. perhaps that’s going to be the second part of the album?

FOTP was great i don’t understand why people don’t like that shit. Lasers was mediocre at best, but All Black Everything was almost everyone’s favorite song on Lasers and Lupe said that it was originally gonna be on Food and Liquor 2 that get’s me pretty hyped up for it.

Lasers was an abomination… and I mean that in the truest sense of the word. Lu and Atlantic tried to combine two worlds of hip hop and it didn’t work. It was a failed experiment and it produced an ugly as Frankenstein. The whole thing was just a waste of Lu’s talents. I really hope the money doesn’t blind him this time… He’s the most lyrical rapper in the game and maybe the most talented when it comes to telling stories. Always been my favorite rapper… but Lasers was just complete shit.

I agree with Mr. Rager, Lupe wouldn’t have had dubstep on FoTP if he hadn’t wanted to try the idea. As far as being forced by Atlantic to do some songs, Out of My Head definitely comes to mind. I just hope there’s no dubstep, synth, or Ohio samples anymore. Maybe one day he can do an entire project with No I.D. like Common. Or I can keep dreaming. Whichever.

At this point Lupe isn’t doing what he planned, I mean didn’t he want to retire after 3 albums but Atlantic foamed at the mouth and held the man in?
But regardless, he is still a dope artist when left to his own shit, siced if Atlantic doesnt fuck with it

What if Lupe Fiasco and Jay Elect release their albums in the same month? That would be the rap month of my life. Two favorite rappers, two highly anticipated albums. Must have this happen….

I’m just saying I thought Lupe came into the game originally set to get out after L.U.P.End, I’m glad the dude didn’t though but AR isn’t helping. If you didn’t have that pirating issue with The Cool and AR restricting his creative expression then shit would probably be different

I recall hearing somewhere that Lupe wanted to leave from the rap game on a good note. I guess he didn’t want to leave his fans disappointed with LASERS.

If Food & Liquor II is like Food & Liquor, I will be VERY happy.

If nas is on this album like lupe hinted years ago, than tupac and biggie will come back to to the u.s from cuba to support this album.nas will be inspired to go back to illmatic level. Hip hop will be entering the best period of its life

Im sorry to lil wayne, drake, rick ross, nicki minaj, all rappers pretty much. Your going to go back to hustling to make money im afraid. but maybe it will teach you not to infiltrate the world of hip hop.anyways, alantic approved it on one listen with out changing it so it must be to good of an album.

Just to update you guys just in case you didn’t know. Producers that are confirmed to be on the album will be Soundtrakk and 1500 or Nothin' (produced Go To Sleep). Pharrell most likely produced songs since him and Lupe are working together on their collaboration album. Robert Glasper is confirmed. Matthew Santos was also rumored to be working with Lupe on the album. Along with Nas who ioiorah already mentioned.
