During the 80s and early 90s, there was an incredible amount of tension between the black and Asian communities in southern California. Look at Ice Cube’s Black Korea for an example.
During the LA riots, Korean-owned businesses were prime targets for looting and pillaging, to the point where a lot of the Koreans took to the roofs of their convenience stores with rifles to defend themselves.
