Hey Forum! Thoughts on the new Slaughterhouse single? I am really disappointed, especially after the last two. Swizz Beatz shouldn’t be jumping on everyones beats, he just ruins it. Just overall, I think this song is pretty bad. What are your thoughts?

Hey man, thanks for creating this discussion much appreciation, I’ve been a slaughterhouse fan for about 2 years now and I really like the first two singles from the album but to be honest I’m confused and saddened at the fact that Swizz Beats is chosen for a pretty basic, childish hook. Royce kills it but Joell and Crooked don’t deliver.

My question: Are they turning into a commercial Hip-hop group though they claim they aren’t ( based solely on this song I liked they experimentation with my life but this is serious)

Terribad song, it makes me…

The singles sound commercial because they NEED radio play. The album is said to be nothing like this.

Never been a fan of Swizz. Looking forward to the album, but I’m disappointed in both this song as well as My Life (feat. Cee Lo).

I think that My Life was a commercial song done well. It had a catchy hook, great lyrics, fun beat, and a nice vibe. This song, however, is the opposite. The lyrics bombed, none of the artists flexed their lyrical muscles that they’re known for, had a hectic beat, and was very rough.

I’m confused by this song too because they said Eminem was overseeing everything and pretty much managing the entire album, and let this garbage slide. I’m not sure if this was Eminem’s decision, Slaughterhouse’s decision, or anyone else, but they made a bad choice. I think this was Slaughterhouse trying to have fun and make a party-esque record, not quite a commercial record, and bombing it.

How does that confuse you?
If anything that’s the answer

Answer being:

Eminem was overseeing everything and pretty much managing the entire album

Past 3 songs from Slaughterhouse have been REALLY jarring/disappointing. Hammer Dance was ok, My Life was just bad, and this song is just shit. Looks like this album is gonna end up like the last one: alright but forgettable. .

^Not sure what your point is. I’m saying someone as experienced as Eminem who knows good music and the dos and the don'ts of the rap industry let his artists release this song as a single. He should have known better and advised the group to not release it as a single, or better, to advise to take it off of the album.

Shady Records is really focused on money now. I didn’t like My Life at all and thought it was embarrassing to the Slaughterhouse name, seeing as it is comparable to a B.O.B. type sound. This song is even more embarrassing. I wish everyone in Shady would go back to their old ways. I liked the old Eminem far more than the new “Space Bound” and “Love the Way You Lie”, soft Em. I liked the old “Microphone” and “Back On The Scene” Slaughterhouse more than the “My Life” with CEE-LO and “Throw It Way” with SWIZZ BEATZ.

Eminem is the one telling them to make shitty songs like this tbh, Yelawolf’s album confirms this.

@iPleadThaSeventh

I completely agree. “My Life” does not even come close to songs like “Onslaught 2”, just as Eminem now can’t compare to old Eminem. But I do think that with “My Life”, Shady Records was being smart; releasing a solid single to garner attention and a mainstream audience who will buy the album. This is what most record labels will go for, no matter who the artists. I don’t have a problem with appealing to the mainstream if the album stays true to real rap, I just have a problem with this garbage song. It is unoriginal, has awful lyrics, an awful hook, an awful beat, etc.

@RTJ2

I guess your right. I was excited when they said Eminem was micromanaging the entire album, but I guess that can be good or bad, with Yelawolf’s album as an example. Lets just hope is ends up better than Radioactive, because I Slaughterhouse is a lot better than Yelawolf, IMO.

I guess you could say they are being smart by appealing to more fans and thus bringing in more money… but at the same time they are being stupid as to overshadow their amazing talent with songs like these. Sure, you could bring in more money by doing mainstream shit like this, but does Slaughterhouse and Shady really need MORE money?? Anything that Eminem puts out is bound to sell tons and tons of copies… and furthermore anyone affiliated with him. I feel that they don’t need to stoop to other artists levels by making some shitty music like this.

If you guys are surprised to hear these guys do a few songs that are somewhat commercial you must be new fans. These rappers have a loooong history of teetering between the streets and the industry. Hell, Crooked I did a track with that hair-dyed thong song motherfucker Sisqo. Royce has dropped PLENTY of commercial records dating back like a decade or more, Budden’s “Pump it Up” was one of the biggest commercial tracks of the year when it dropped, and even Ortiz was crooning with Akon on his first album. If you guys seriously didn’t expect a couple commercial joints on this album then you simply didn’t know the artists in question well enough. They’ve done this for years, it’s their blueprint; they’ll give the radio the records they need to, and they’ll go hard on the rest of them. And even the radio joints they’ll still go harder than average on.

The same shit is happening that happened to Radioactive

Atleast Slaughterhouse was curtious enough to warn us about the quality of the song before listening. Similar to garbage, which is what this song is, throw it away…

this song sucks major ASS! Em, if this is what u plan for the whole album, think back to all the shit u did to poor Paul & make these niggas do the same to u. I think they should all go out make mixtapes pick hard teams off their mixtapes & do a few songs together in between like their first EP.

I don’t think Eminem produced this song, I’m pretty sure it was Mr. Porter.

Mr Porter did produce it, but Eminem is the executive producer for the album, and oversaw everything that went into the album. He is also the label head, meaning he has complete control over everything, and shouldn’t have let that slide.

i usually like swizz beats going over beats….makes it fun to listen to, since it would be a single i’m guessing….but the lyrics in the songs…some of them are recycled…never was a fan of that

slaughterhouse has put out how many songs as a group though and this is the first one i’m really disappointed in…so they if they have 1 bad song on the album, it’s cool

My point was that this shit sucks

this song is pretty bad but to have one bad song on a project thats potentionally 18 songs is alright by me, but still, this is supposed to be the most anticipated album, and the best album of the year but with songs like this, 3 words. AIN’T GUNNA HAPPEN.

http://www.xclusiveszone.net/2012/06/audio-yelawolf-speaks-on-upcoming-projects-label-issues-machine-gun-kelly-comparisons-and-more/ — for all u dumbfucks u think EMINEM was responsible for yela goin radio friendly on radioactive, just listen this shit!

I dont get why people hating. This song sounds great (least to me), same with ‘my life’. I never cared too much for Slaughterhouse but their last few singles have impressed me, and I might be copping their album, haha.

Hammer Dance is epic by all accounts and I think is a fantastic example of what Slaughterhouse do, My Life again is amazing and although slightly commercialised it didn’t mean any quality is lost in the raps and the hook is sick. It pains me however to say that I have to agree with this discussion in saying that Throw It Away is a disappointment, the beat just doesn’t work and it seems as though the group had difficulty putting a decent flow over it. I think production was more of an issue here than anything else.

^ This. Hammer Dance and My life were pretty good but this song just doesn’t sound like typical Slaughterhouse at all. Swizz Beats voice is beyond annoying and his hooks are awful. I wonder though, if this will be their next single including a video.

Wow, this was honestly are pretty weak single from Slaughterhouse. I like Swizz Beatz for his instrumentals, but he really needs to stay at least 10 feet away from any microphone for the rest of his life.

I still have faith in the album though, this is just some ignorance for the radio. Still prefer this over Rack City & The Motto…

Hey guys, good news. Throw It Away is the only song like how it is on Welcome To: Our House. Proof: http://gyazo.com/0909acf9bd29e7635039d27b506b36aa

Oh, and @OfficialyIce is a legit guy. He’s friends with Slaughterhouse and he collects music.

My ratings for these songs go as is…

“Hammer Dance” is an 8.5
“My Life” is an 8
“Throw it Away” a 6

As a single, party, silly record, whatever. There’s absolutely nothing pleasing about “Throw it Away”. Shit’s just boring. I listen to more Based God than that joint.

Catchy Song to me , as well takes shots at that “you only live once” motto haha
