I don’t know if this has been covered by RapGenius before, but I’m struggling with making a decision between ASCAP and BMI.

I’ve heard some places that they both screw young artists over. I’ve heard in other places that ASCAP is the way to go because of artist development. I’ve heard in other places that BMI is the way to go because ASCAP doesn’t care about the individual artists, they just want to make money. I’ve also heard that neither are important unless you have a hit song. (Like, HUGE hit.)

I really don’t know what to believe.

I wouldn’t be so worried about it right now, but I’m a producer as well as a rapper, and they are supposed to protect your creative uniqueness (I heard that too.)

If anybody knows anything, please help. I think all artists should be able to know the truth behind these organizations.
