A$AP rocky is getting way too much to me.. I don’t like his music at all. Kendrick is getting too much as well. Don’t get me wrong he’s definitely good just not THAT good.. like people are acting like he’s the best technical and lyrical rapper out there(when that’s FAR FAR from the truth). People just act like he’s the GOAT already or something it’s crazy.. simply because his music has a bit of substance. Also he has a complete lack of Charisma and NEVER gets knocked for that when there’s other rappers I know of get knocked for that and that alone. Oh well though. It seems the REALLY most skilled coming up artists are the ones that aren’t getting enough unfortunately. |

I agree that Kendrick isn’t the greatest, but section 80 is a really good album. In part because of the production. I like how his tracks are put together though, not just the lyrics and the substance. I’m a huge Mac Miller fan but the last tape and the debut album was horrible. |

Kendrick Lamar. People are saying this dude is the future GOAT, I can barely think of anything more eye-rollingly ridiculous than that. For real, I fuck with like three songs on Section.80. Now, to be fair, that’s mostly because of the beats and hooks, but Kendrick doesn’t do all that much to increase my opinion of it. He uses a really laid back flow, that often just sounds lazy and boring to me (kinda annoying trend in mainstream hip hop, Cole and Wiz have the same problem imo), and while his lyrics are good, they aren’t anything amazing. He’s a good technical story-teller but none of his stories are particularly interesting. Idk, he’s obviously not bad, but the way people hype him I expected a lot more, and I definitely expected way, way more from S.80. |

J. Cole As for Tyler, the Creator I think there are alot more people hate him than people that like him. Personally, I enjoy his music. |

I hate Hopsin. He can spit really well, but his music is just bad to me. I don’t see why anyone likes it. And he sounds like a 14-year-old white girl to me. But one who doesn’t seem to get enough hype unless it’s among heads is Big Krizzle. His flow is sooooo sick, his voice is amazing, his beats are banging, he can write party songs AND in depth storytelling songs, he has great lyricism, he has great voice inflection and charisma, there just isn’t anything I don’t like about dude. I definitely think he has better substance, and an all around better style than K.Dot, even though I’m a huge fan of Section.80 |

Supermotherfuckingvillain….on point. Kendrick is strait. I fuck with his old shit, and his buzzed fizzled when he made C4 to me. I just stopped caring and he got boring. Training Day (I justrecently listened to it, haven’t in years. Shit rides.) and the tape he did with Jay Rock, where I think he got out shined by Jay Rock. Section80 isn’t that special to me, but I wasn’t in awe or anything. It’s a strait album, alot better than the stuff that comes out now, but it ain’t no bonafide classic and Kendrick isn’t the “savior” of West Coast rap….honestly if Hopsin got off his weirdness and stopped crying about everyone else’s fame he’s be WAY better than Kendrick. |

Machine Gun Kelly and Mac Miller. MGK isn’t that big, but he doesn’t deserve any hype at all since he has no talent. |

Tyler, The Creator I love A$AP because some of the stuff he puts out is just laid back and I don’t party much. Kendrick is a bit overrated now but I feel he has potential to be one of the best. I loved Section 80. I wish that Ab-Soul would get the same attention, his flow is too unique. I agree that Hopsin does need to quit whining about the success of others. Dude makes music that appeals to an underground audience. He was removed from my playlist for that reason. It’s annoying. |

I still don’t understand why people don’t like Mac Miller. On KIDS and BDE the production was AMAZING, and he has a nice flow. Wale has been putting out wack shit since going to MMG, and boy do I hate Hopsin. As stated above, its just bad music. A teenager here and there might listen to his crap so they can be “different”, but who in the fuck that’s in their right mind would listen to that shit? |

I’m sensing a lot of MGK hate on this forum… But really doe, I think the dude Hopsin is getting a little too much hype. Dont get me wrong, the kid has an ear for beats and his flow is on point, but he whines too much. If I wanted to hear whining I’d listen to Drake |

I’ll say this now and forever, Wale has been fucking TERRIBLE compared to his mixtape days, ever since he got signed to MMG. His mixtape songs had substance, had stories behind them, and w/ Rick Ross polluting his mind, Idk if we’ll ever hear a gem like The Breakup Song again. |

As much of a Kendrick Lamar fan I am, he is definitely getting hyped up too much. Not saying he doesn’t deserve it but he hasn’t even perfected his sound so I would like it if people stopped making him the GOAT as you guys said earlier. Another guy who I also like but is getting hyped up in my opinion is Childish Gambino. Again, not saying he doesn’t deserve it but his style is so bland and repetitive to me. He has some nice punchlines but I don’t know. He’s kind of like a more lyrical version of Mac Miller to me. Speaking of which, Mac Miller also fits this category. |

From a person who grew up worshiping Nirvana, I think it’s downright disrespectful for Machine Gun Kelley talkin' all that Kurt Cobain shit. Seriously, that’s fucked up and can’t wait to see that kid tossed in the back bin. Besides that, he is fake as fuck and you can hear it in his lyrics. It’s disgusting. |

All of them. Fans and the media are too quick to crown everyone as soon as the drop a 7/10 mixtape as long as it vaguely different (or marketable) than what’s currently out. No one gets the chance to build anything anymore. It’s just the product of the era now because everyone can produce and upload something to the internet (which the good outweighs the bad to me) and then they amass a cult following based off a couple hot guest verses or 1 hit single. |

@eNTiTy Tyga can choose to actually rap when he wants to but he’s mostly trash. I will admit that there were a few gems on Black Thoughts and Black Thoughts 2 but the fact that he has a lot of songs as wack if not wacker than Rack City makes him trash. |

Wale I’m not sure if he’s even up and coming in people’s minds, but his 2 albums that he has put out have been mediocre at best. He isn’t a deep lyricist, he rides the MMG labe, and he has an unattractive pop-rap sound to me. It’s not even the typical pop-rap stuff, it’s just annoying shit that buzzes the airwaves. I completely loathe him. |

To me Kendrick Lamar is the best Hip-hop artist alive. Rappers with too much hype are Tyler the Creator, MGK, and Lil B. People should be hyping up Los, Blu, Fashawn, and Ab-Soul. Them, Kendrick, and Cole are my favorite rappers. |

Kendrick is getting too much hype. He’s a great rapper, but the I worry all the hype will just make him go mainstream. A$AP Rocky is in my opinion nothing new, and therefore getting way too much hype. Mac Miller isn’t really new, but I still think people make too big of a deal about him. |

I don’t think ASAP rocky is great, but since even the rappers that I previously liked (Big Sean, wale, Mac miller) all seam to suck now, I think his hype is much more deserved than some other artist. Also, when I first heard his album it surprised me, because I wasn’t feeling his mixtape at all. I think the album was a big improvement. |

I think discussions on rappers receiving “too much hype” is a taboo subject. My reason for this statement is that you as a fan of music should always make your own opinion on the current musician being promoted in the media. If you don’t like the musician, simply avoid the sites or the media that is/are hyping him/her/them up. Maybe you’ll even get to like the music later on as they improve and release new shit. |
