Southerns rappers ever since the rap started has always gotten the short end of the stick. With new upcoming southern rappers paving a way mainly Big K.R.I.T. With the release of Return of 4eva and 4eva in a day.
Return of 4eva has some classic tracks such as
-Dreaming
-My sub
-My favorite The Vent
4eva in a day also adds many classic tracks also

What do you think of him as a rapper

K.R.I.T is a genius, Return of 4eva is classic to me, 4eva and a day was dissapointing though.

K.R.I.T is truly genius, you can tell his heart is in every track he puts out as well. Hes a good technical rapper and many things that set him apart from most rappers we’ve been seeing. In my opinion, hes one of the current rappers who will actually be talked about for years to come..Hes got potential to be a great .. IMO

You’re probably new here. K.R.I.T. is well liked by the RG community. No question about it.

He’s a great rapper & artist, on Return of 4Eva, KRIT Wuz Here etc. he showed he really knows how to rap, but 4EvaNaDay is more, he showed he can make music, and that is what I like a lot in artists, that is why I also listen to people like Terrace Martin, Mann, Del the Funky Homosapien, etc

The Vent!… but Jay Electronica is the greatest southern rapper. I’ll argue that statement to my fucking death.

“My microphone is seven thousand nine-hundred and twenty six miles in diameter."
– Jay Electronica in So What You Sayin'

Figure it out.

@AlGray, you’ll put Jay Elec over 3stacks?

Huh. Lol alright. .

@Ainsley
Yes, I will. Even with Elec’s very limited discography. Be Cool, though.

I wouldn’t consider K.R.I.T. a genius but I would consider him an excellent artist that knows how to make quality music

lol no Krit ain’t a genius he’s ok but he’s certainly not a genius…. however, I think you guys explained a lot in this thread….

The south has gotten the short end of the stick? Where have you been since 2000? WTF? For real, and then you go on to say new artists like Krit are paving the way? Krit is a PIMP C clone, this dude ain’t done nothing original. His whole sound is a copy cat of this Pimp C, he’s good but he certainly isn’t a genius or doing anything new. I’m glad you guys never listened to UGK but just because you don’t know about hip-hop you really should tone down all your declarations and annointing.

Go listen to UGK’s discography

I mean the south hasn’t been underrepresented in years wtf? It may have been the last spot to pop off, it’s debatable with the midwest but I mean they’ve had UGK, Outkast, Goodie Mob, Ludacris, TI, Lil Jon, Wayne, Rick Ross, Screwed Up Click got some notoriety, I mean with Flip, Zro, and Trae, Slim Thug, I know I said Wayne but what about the rest of the hot boys, Mystikal…

I mean New Orleans, Houston, Atlanta, and Miami all have produced an act or two every year for the past 15 yrs that would get big I can’t even remember all the names right now.

but yea Krit is good, nothing great or groundbreaking again, listen to UGK and Pimp C’s solo stuff. He was way better than Krit.

I might be the only one who likes 4EvaNaDay more than Returnof4eva

lol at you bitch asses thumbs downing the realness…

^ I didn’t thumb down shit, but now that you said that i went and thumbed down your post

i kinda agree with 2nd. Krit is getting alot of praise for aping Pimp C and Three 6 Mafia on the production tip. I like Krit, but give credit where its due nahmsayin

@SecondComing
First, KRIT directly mentions UGK, Three 6, 8Ball & MJG, and a few others as his influences in his music. These lines explain it clearly. Second, I have purchased every single UGK album and solo CD, and KRIT does not sound exactly like them, or any other southern OG. UGK was one of the pioneers of the traditional “Southern rap” sound (as were the Geto Boys, Outkast, Goodie Mob etc), and KRIT is following their footsteps. Any problem with that? I sure as fuck hope not, seeing as his music is almost at their level. You must be deaf if you still somehow can’t hear the differences. To call KRIT a “clone” or “copycat” of UGK is downright stupid and shows how little you know about KRIT and UGK, though you claim to know a lot. Third, If Pimp C were alive, you know damn well he’d be working with KRIT, just like all the other southern OGs are right now. So please, take your own “bitch ass” and your fake-ass “realness” and get the FUCK out. You don’t know shit. .

Oh, and as much as I love Pimp C, he hardly ever rapped about personal stuff, unlike KRIT. Pimp C has a unique, larger than life persona, KRIT is much more down-to-earth and relatable. .

I think he released 2 new tracks today.

My favorite K.R.I.T. song.

K.R.I.T will be one of those guys that will lead the genre of rap to a more positive perspective towards those ignorant people who stereotype rap as just music about bitches, drugs and money. He doesn’t make music, I must go as far as to say he crafts music. I will admit that I don’t listen to him like some of the others of the RG community but I do give him respect, he’s easily a standout in this generation of upcoming rappers if he can still be considered upcoming now.
