Though Uptown can refer to a larger swath of New Orleans that includes the ritzy Garden District to the east (boyhood home of Peyton and Eli Manning), when rappers refer to Uptown, they’re talking about this rough neighborhood where Birdman and Soulja Slim (R.I.P.), among other MCs, are from. Uptown didn’t flood during Katrina, but there was a flood of looters (see pic)!
