Top 10 Sneakers From The Fresh Prince & Seinfeld

This blog post may not be exactly music oriented and may sound weird being on a rap blog, but I have noticed through my past year on Rap Genius that there are quite a few sneakersheads out there and I feel that this will be appropriate and entertaining to those who enjoy sneakers just as much as I do.

To many sneakerheads and fans of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and Seinfeld, they most likely noticed that these shows are very popular when it comes to sneakers. These television shows will always be classic. They have so many memorable features such as quotes, jokes, episodes, characters, and most importantly.. Sneakers.

Here are the top ten sneakers that were featured on these two sneaker-filled television series:

10. Nike Air Challenge Pro Low

This sneaker was featured in Seinfeld.

The Nike Air Challenge Pro Lows were released in 1991. These shoes did not get too much attention and were hardly ever seen. Although this sneaker was not very popular I would say that this shoe is a classic.

9. Nike Air Trainer Max

This sneaker was feature in Seinfeld.

The Nike Air Trainer Max more commonly known as the Air Max 93 was released in 1993. This sneaker was a lot different than previously releases because of how big Nike made the air bubble in the back. The sneaker is a very popular member of the Air Max family and was the first shoe to feature the colored air bubble.

8. Nike Air Force 180 Low

This sneaker was featured in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.

The Nike Air Force 180 Low’s were first released in 1992 and represented a significant evolution and extension of Nike Basketball’s design language. This sneaker provided enough cushion to protect your feet but was built to withstand the game.

7. Nike Air Flight Lite

This sneaker was featured in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.

The Nike Air Flight Lites were released in 1991. Nike really hit it off with this sneaker, at the time when it was released it was the lightest shoe on the court. Aside from celebrity endorsement this sneaker was one of the first sneakers to feature a “glass outsole”.

6. Air Jordan VI

This sneaker was featured in Seinfeld.

This sneaker, the Air Jordan VI in white/sport blue was released in 1991 and there was actually a controversy over the name of the sneaker. The shoe was known as the Original Air Jordan VI but on the shoe box it was abbreviated and was worded Air Jordan OG VI. It was confirmed that the official name of this sneaker is the Original Air Jordan and later got the nickname September Blue.

5. Nike Air Max 95

This sneaker was featured in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.

The Nike Air Max 95’s were first released in 1995. The sneaker was the first of its kind to introduce the air bubble in the heel and forefoot. This sneaker was designed to be a running shoe but over time the sneaker was mainly used for fashion.

4. Air Jordan VII “Cardinal”

This sneaker was featured in Seinfeld.

The Air Jordan VII “Cardinals” were released in 1992 and were given the name cardinal because the little bit of cardinal red in the colorway. This sneaker was re-released as a retro in April of 2006 and did not feature any changes or alterations to it at all.

3. Air Jordan VII “Hare”

This sneaker was featured in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.

The Air Jordan VII “Hares” were released in February of 1992 releasing with a commercial featuring Michael Jordan and the one and only Bugs Bunny. With these Jordans having the name “Hare” they quickly got the nickname “Hare Jordan” because of Bugs Bunny.

2. Air Jordan XI “Columbia”

This sneaker was featured in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.

The Air Jordan XI “Columbias” were released in 1996 and featured a beautiful icy blue sole. Although the quality of this sneaker was not top notch and quite poor many sneaker heads and critics claimed that the design was simply amazing.

1. Air Jordan V “Grape”

This sneaker was featured in both The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and Seinfeld.

As of right now I would have to say that the Air Jordan “Grapes” are my favorite sneaker of all time. This sneaker was originally released back in 1990 and really has not been around the block too much since then. As a matter of fact this sneaker just happens to be re-releasing as an OG May 4th of 2013 and was voted the most anticipated sneaker of 2013.
