“Know someone who sound like me? Point em out and bring em in/Guarantee I’ll wash em out, like tide on a stain or two”  – Remy Banks, Let Em Know

Remy Banks’ inspiration comes from some unconventional places, including cartoon characters. “Jonny Quest is my favorite cartoon character of all time. He is the son of a scientist and they travel everywhere….I am Jonny Quest but with a letterman jacket and some bapes,” the rising hip-hop star  annotates on “Higher.”

Although he references  anime and cartoon characters, Remy’s lyrics are intensely personal. “This mixtape is my diary….Talk about your life. Talk about what made you change and you never know, your story may help somebody else change their lives,” he annotates on “Exhale.”

But, like many talented rappers, Remy knows that sometimes you just have to be a little boastful, “You really need that one track where you talk shit. When I first heard this beat I smoked a little and was like, ‘ain’t nobody fuckin’ with me right now!’” he annotates on “Let Em Know.”
