A Chinese finger trap is a practical joke toy.

Darnielle is using this analogy to convey that sometimes you have to let it go and stop pulling if you want to escape this trap that was set for you.

Stripping someone for their belongings means to take it from them. In this case it means Em is coming for your money.

Its a stick up.

Here Em is making a mockery off the typical popstar videos where they hop in cars, drive aimlessly then suddenly stop to dance with a group of performers who feel up their bodies.

Just to clear up any misinformation about when this track was written, here is an interview with the producer of the track, Chris Winston:

Canns — So firstly, can you confirm to everyone when you actually produced the track ‘Deja Vu’? A lot of people actually thought that was an ‘Illmatic’ outtake, whilst others suggested it came a bit later as Nas used the same lyrics on ‘Verbal Intercourse’?

Chris Winston — Yes I produced Deja Vu. It was well after Illmatic when Nas started working on It Was Written. He wrote the lyrics to Deja Vu with me then ended up using the 1st Verse on Raekwon’s joint."

Oli could be referring to abortion with these lines. “Every firstborn dying now” clearly referencing the highly sex infused lifestyle she leads and the outcome of it all.

The correct lyrics are “Death will stand where life once stood,” rather than “And we’ll stand where life once stood”.

Also, these four verses are referring to the first and last Egyptian plagues from the story of Moses. In the first plague, Moses puts his staff into the Nile River and its water turns to blood. Exodus 7:14–25
In the Final plague, the angel of death passes through Egypt killing the firstborn son of any house without a lamb’s blood spread on its doorpost. (Origin of the Passover) Exodus 11:1–12:36

Eminem has mentioned sucking at math before. This also shows Em’s negativity towards something most would cherish, he just isn’t interested in acknowledging life has its positive aspects.

Notice the hitch in Matthew’s voice when he says this — it’s an indication that he’s finally lost it for good.

Much like how Stan quoted Eminem right before he killed himself and his girlfriend, Matthew is quoting an older Em line off of a track called Desperados.

Chauvinist pig, drove in this big Lincoln
Till it went over the bridge"

This is also be a reference to a Frank Ocean line off of “Swim Good”, where Frank talks about what he can fit in the trunk of his Lincoln. Considering Matthew’s apparent fascination with Frank that becomes clear in the next line, it makes the reference more likely.

That’s a pretty big trunk on my Lincoln car, ain’t it?
Big enough to take these broken hearts and put ‘em in it"

Arson is the crime of intentionally setting fire to properties. The person who commits this crime is called an arsonist not an arson. Eminem has manipulated the meaning of this word to alter the rhyme scheme and keep it flowing.

It’s self-explanatory that Em has kidnapped this person, however, it should be noted that anorexia is an eating disorder brought on by self-perception regarding an irrational fear of gaining weight, it’s not the body type of someone which Eminem is referring to, you don’t “develop” anorexia, it’s a neurotic condition.

Eminem, after failing the 9th Grade three consecutive times, eventually dropped out of high school at the age of 17.

Also, smart little wordplay with Em calling himself a school flunky then ending a rhyme off with incorrect grammar, “brung me”.

"Rip open your tissue make your task force miss you" (Joey BADA$$ – Don't Quit Your Day Job (Lil B Diss)) | accepted

^ I doubt it means that, don’t give this line unnecessary meaning, this track was rushed and I thoroughly doubt Joey put THAT much thought into it all.

"You know I just don't get it / Last year I was nobody, th..." (Eminem – Marshall Mathers) | accepted

Actually, the 10 million dollar is a reference to the jazz musician Jacques Loussier.

"(Fuck that shit, you just caught this bitch cheating / Wh..." (Eminem – Guilty Conscience) | accepted

I’m not suggesting an improvement but I’m just pointing out that Kim also cheated on Em, so Em is reacting on natural instinct to his impulsive thoughts during that heated moment by retaining them in lyrics.

"And borrow a damn dress and one of her blond wigs / Tell ..." (Eminem – Guilty Conscience) | accepted

Nigga Renee is the aunts name. Damn this shit isn’t mythical or that hard to decipher.
