The way he sings these lines makes it sound like he’s trying hard to convince everyone, including himself, that they’re having a good time when they obviously don’t believe that they are. In fact, the scenario is pretty terrifying; the girl that’s having trouble breathing is already told she can’t leave even though her life might be in danger.

He’s sampling the British punk band Siouxie and the Banshee’s “Happy House.” When asked if “Happy House” is a cynical song, Siouxsie replied that it is “sarcastic. In a way, like television, all the medias, it is like adverts, the perfect family where as it is more common that husbands beat their wives. There are mental families really.
