He’s pointing out the fact that most of these other rappers might have a lot of money, but it only makes them forget who they are, where they come from, what their roots are.

Also seeds as in their children, meaning some rappers may be rich but don’t even know the whereabouts of their children which may suggest that they don’t take care of them either.

If you get to fourth down that means you’ve failed to advance 10 yards in the previous three downs, that’s where the punting usually comes into play. How is Cole gonna ever punt if he doesn’t fail enough to put himself in that position?

Continuing with the football metaphors, a punt is when a player kicks the ball to relinquish possession to the opposite team. It usually happens when the offense is struggling. However, since Cole is doing hundred yard dashes there is no need to punt since he’ll run it in for the touchdown every time, which ties to his constant winning routine.

“100 yard dash, never punt at all” he goes 100 yards (a whole football field), and by saying 100 yard dash, he means that he races down the field quick and has no need to punt it off because he’s always scoring. Also, in a one hundred yard dash, a racer runs in his own lane, meaning Cole is in his own lane and no one can take him down.

Ollie is the base trick for 98% of all skateboard tricks. It consists of snapping the board to the ground and jumping up making the board stick to your feet.
Basically saying that it’s not about doing the most complicated tricks it’s about the feeling of actually skating.

When you skate you know that bailing and the pain that comes with it is just a part of the game and is nothing compared to the feeling of accomplishment you get when you land your trick.

A game of S.K.A.T.E. is pretty much the skateboard equivalent of b-ball’s H.O.R.S.E.
Object of the game is to do a trick your opponent is unable to in order to give him a letter. When a person receives 5 letters (misses 5 tricks) the other person is the victor.

Saying to his farewells to classic skate spots. LOVE park in Philly and Embarcadero in San Fran were legendary 90’s skate spots that came to be heavily guarded by ‘rent-a-cops’ because of skaters and eventually redeveloped making them virtually unskateable.

"So just to get a dollar, will I sell my soul? / I look th..." (Kendrick Lamar – Kendrick Lamar) | accepted

Also, don’t miss the quick little “devil” and “hell” reference.

Bars out the ass = Bars for days.

"I'mma start off with these four bars" (J. Cole – Chris Tucker) | accepted

Missed the bar in “bar"bie

sorry, these are really bad explanations. most of this verse is cole expressing his own insecurities. even though he loves his girl he knows he might not have the self control to keep away from temptations.

"But I'm still on you, I'm still on you" (J. Cole – Power Trip) | accepted

Continuing from the last lines' double meaning, he could again be referring to that same situation. Even though the labels passed on him and slept on him at first he kept on trying to make it in the rap game. The double meaning being “You” which refers to a girl as well as rap.

"Old chicks crying cause they know that they lost out" (J. Cole – Power Trip) | accepted

This could also be referring to the rap industry and old labels that passed on Cole, since he recently revealed that this entire song had a double meaning. Back when he wasn’t hot they just waved him off, but now that he’s got platinum and gold records under his belt they’re regretting those decisions.

"But..." (J. Cole – Power Trip) | accepted

Continuing from the double entendre of the line above, once again, the obvious meaning is already explained. However, he alternately refers to him not being in the game for simply the money/fame, he has a love for the music.

This line like many others in this track has a double meaning. The obvious one is explained above, but continuing on the double meaning theme of the song this is also directed at rap (or rap game). By “Fuck her one time and be through it forever” he explains the mentality of many rappers out today that are openly only in the game for the money. Get your money and run…
