The title, “Crackwhore” and the French count-in are references to the lyrics of my song “Yellow Day” that I used to sing at acoustic open mic nights and coffee shop shows with Jonny. I almost always had him come on stage and sing it with me.. This is a friendly little nod to that. Kind of a response song, you could say. :) -kimberly

Jonny and I have been friends for a long time.. Over the years, we’ve usually been the only ones who didn’t do drugs and drink in our various circles.. We were always the sober nerds, haha. So of course he wrote a song about me called, “Crackwhore”. We used to perform it together at open mic nights in Eugene.. He’d introduce the song with, “I wrote this song about a special girl. This is the story of how I met Kimberly Freeman. Kimberly, come on up!”.. I then did interpretive dance and harmonies while he played, and people were usually really confused. -kimberly

This is what Jonny tells people when they ask how we met.

This is why I love Jonny.

This is my talented friend Guymon Adams going back and forth on guitar with me. He’s playing the cooler stuff, haha. :):) -kimberly

There was something weird happening in my headphones, and I was trying to tell Jason to stop recording.. He let it roll, and I continued my take. We decided that it was cool and kept it. :) -kimberly

This is where Johnny starts singing..

Johnny, Jason and I recorded this on New Year’s Day out here at Nebulost. It’s a really special song to me. We also recorded 3009 together that night. I love having talented friends! :) -kimberly

The angelic lower harmonies from here onward were sung by the fabulous Crystal Dean. :) :) -kimberly

:) I know you guys haven’t heard this part of Yellow Day in my old recordings and past live performances… Here’s why. SPOILER ALERT!!! I decided while recording the 2013 studio version of this song (expect shiny awesomeness and a guest vocal performance by Jonny Flash the cow) that it needed a bridge to help get my message and intention across. Adding an entire lyrical bridge to a song after it’s already been recorded and performed several times may have disrupted the space–time continuum in some way, and you may start to notice things becoming distorted, looped and slightly off in the world you around you. It had to be done, and I’m sorry if your cat has gone missing or you have two left shoes now, but it was for art. I’m sure you understand.. and I hope you find your cat. -kimberly

This is, “We are Going to be Friends” by the White Stripes.. ;)

Fat with an F was actually not produced by Jason Rufuss Sewell, so that should be taken down. My mistake.. Habit! :) -k
