About Pres

Pres was just your typical middle class 16-year-old high schooler from the southwest suburbs of Chicago, IL looking towards his future with uncertainty until he found his passion for making rap music. Tegan Washington (which is where the Pres moniker originated from) was a brainiac heading for an engineering degree at a division 1 school and due to his 1400 SAT score it was very feasible. At least it was, until he found his overwhelming passion for creating music. He was always infatuated by the speed of Logic, the story telling of J. Cole, and the out-of-this-world versatility of Drake. After rapping with his friends as a joke for a couple hours and immediately falling in love, Pres decided that it was the only thing he wanted to pursue in life. Pres describes it as “a gut feeling that you could one day compete with the greats” that called him into the hip-hop industry.

Pres started working quickly and released 4 projects within his first 6 months as an MC. He then proceeded to truly indulge in all areas of the industry including engineering, producing, and most importantly, marketing and promotion. With the newly gained knowledge Pres released a DIY project titled “Promised Land” which was completely produced, rapped and engineered by the then 17-year-old. Following only 3 months later was the “Presi Vol. 2” mixtape which supplied the initial boost in his career.

Spotify was becoming more and more the main focus of Pres’ musical endeavors. He knew that he was ready to stop making mainstream music and get back to the old-school style that he has always adored. “For the Record” was the true introduction to the artistry of Pres and therefore he felt the need to make it the biggest release he could at barely 18-years-old as of February 2019. This project was the home to the hit single “Late Night Drive” which pushed Pres’ music out to hundreds of thousands of hip-hop fans around the world. He then Followed up months later with “Presi Vol. 3” which hosted the best trap/turn-up songs he had ever released and nestled in it the winning anthem “Champions”. But once again, in true Pres fashion, a short couple month wait yielded yet another mixtape by the name of “Writing Solo” in June 2019. In this mixtape he expanded his range to yet another genre, R&B/Pop music. The singles “Solo” and “The Best Times” truly illustrated the mainstream capabilities of Pres’ music and skill set.

Currently, Pres is employing what is widely known as the “Russ Strategy”. Pres is releasing singles consistently with both quantity and quality. The release schedule is every other week and has so far included a variety of tracks. “Manifest” which is a chill rap track, “Darkness” featuring another lyrical heavyweight named Elijah Kyle and “Status” which is a quick banger that has true, deep content behind it. Also, I almost forgot to mention that it is clear Pres truly cares about his fans as he grants them the opportunity to pick their favorite of two songs and release the winning track only days later. This event is known as “Manifest Monday” in his community which is named after his independent record label Manifest Records. These every other week releases are truly living up to the hype each time and the best part about is that you never know what vibe or emotions Pres is going to bring to the chopping boards for his fans to select from.
