Too many people on the bottom don’t understand why they are on the bottom. They look to others around them, but they never knew why either.

Some people become so used to being poor or hood life that they see nothing wrong with it. Cee Lo wants more though.

We got the freedom to go to college, live in equal housing, and hold well paying jobs, and we have(as a people) wasted all of that.

One day, long after we get wiped out by the IRS, Republicans, and AIDs/Drugs, all the minorities will look to us as an example of what NOT to do in a white society.

I think it certain rappers gon' want beef. Otherwise the line doesn’t make sense.

He is basically saying this song is not for people who aren’t with the movement and want to hold it back with petty things like rap beef, which is usually fake.

There is a reason white people keep track of where their greatx16 grandparents were from:Pride. Its hard to be proud when you dont even know where you came from.

This is a double entendre with a few possible meanings.

1.White people profit from not just the SALE of drugs but the war on drugs(paying more cops, prison cops, politicians, judges, lawyers, and building more prisons, police stations, government offices.) They can raise billions of dollars(legally) and justify it with fighting drugs.

2.White people have one drug(dope) and another drug(materialism) and the second has done more damage to the black community than street drugs will ever do. By White corporate label heads pushing materialistic content, they have helped ensure that blacks as a whole will remain content within their economic status and actually celebrate being poor. Reverse Psychology.

  1. He also brings out the similarity of the chains our ancestors wore as slaves and the jewelry promoted to us now. Also there is a similarity to the slang we use, Chains=slaves & Jewellery whips=to beat slaves & Cars.

Great example of this is Young Jeezy. In a documentary he basically said that although he sold drugs, when he saw his mom on crack it was a mindfuck. But he went on to make music about selling it anyways and is proud of that, despite personally seeing the damage it does and did TO HIS OWN MOTHER.

This is why the world hates black people.

Keep making that music for Gen Y man.

He’s still got it.

"Now how the fuck I'm 'posed to say this?" (ScHoolboy Q – Blessed) | accepted

I think it could be either/or. He may not really know how to explain it to us, or his friend.

"And so he said "Why you gotta be so kind hearted?" (Kendrick Lamar – Opposites Attract (Tomorrow W/O Her)) | rejected

He feels insecure compared to her own goodness.

It will not be convenient and easy. It will not wait on you. It is happening now and the time to join is now.
