DJ Mustard and Travi$ Scott Flip A Classic Dance Sample For “Whole Lotta Lovin”

It’s right in front, of your face, and you just, cannot hide it.

Puff Daddy famously built his legacy by taking hits from the ’80s and making them sound so crazy. It’s a formula that hasn’t lost an ounce of potency over the years—one that DJ Mustard and Travi$ Scott employ on their new single “Whole Lotta Lovin.”

The duo channels CeCe Peniston’s throwback dance track “Finally,” borrowing the staccato cadence of the 1991 hit but reworking the words.

Peniston’s classic hook, “Finally, it has happened to me, right in front of my face, and I just cannot hide it” gets warped by a heavily Auto-Tuned Travi$ Scott:

Finally I can move how I want
And I need, pick a time and I’m zoning
You got me, I got you and that’s all that I need
When I wake in the morning

The hip-hop-meets-electronic earworm premiered on Zane Lowe’s “Beats 1” Apple Radio station earlier today, but there’s no word on which project it will land.
