Toliver’s girlfriend, Kali Uchis, appears in the music video.

Don Toliver is in his biker-rock era. The Houston singer and rapper returns today with “Bandit,” a bruiser of a single built on a sample of psych-rock heroes Tame Impala’s 2020 track “One More Hour.” Produced by ReidMD, “Bandit” is packed with rock-leaning lyrics, starting with the pre-chorus that opens the song.

(I did it for love)
Ride the highway, rock the bus (Rock it, rock it)

Next comes the chorus, where Toliver asserts his badassery by mixing up some lean and likening himself to an infamous shock rocker that nobody should be comparing themselves to at the moment.

Psycho bandit (Bust it)
Like it’s Marilyn Manson (Bust it)
Got the cash, advance it (Bust it)
Get the Sprite and enhance it (Bust it)

In the post-chorus, Toliver alludes to making lots of money by illicit means.

I’m gettin’ this cash, it’s Monday to Sunday
I guess you won’t talk if it ain’t ’bout the money
My boys in the trap, and it jump like a bunny
Got pounds and pills, it ain’t nothin' funny

Toliver uses the outro to make some threats against an unnamed enemy. Dude better check his shrubs.

Hide in the bush, you won’t see me, huh
Put you underwater like seaweed, huh
Why lil’ nigga wan’ be me, huh?
.45 up when I’m creepin’, huh

“Bandit” comes with a music video in which Toliver hangs with a wild biker gang before coming home and kissing the belly of his real-life girlfriend, Kali Uchis, who’s expecting the couple’s first child.
