The song seems to contain a Nicki Minaj diss.

Back in November, Megan Thee Stallion released “Cobra” as the lead single off her forthcoming third studio album. She continues the snake theme today with the brand-new follow-up “HISS,” which shot straight to No. 1 on the Genius Top Songs chart.

Produced by Bankroll Got It, Lil Ju, and Shawn “Source” Jarrett, “HISS” is three minutes of Megan going hard at people who’ve wronged her or tried to profit on her name. In the opening lines, she compares herself to Mariah Carey, who famously dealt with unwanted attention (“Why are you so obsessed with me?”) on 2009’s “Obsessed.”

I feel like Mariah Carey (Mariah Carey), got these niggas so obsessed (Damn)
My pussy so famous, might get managed by Kris Jenner next (Mwah)

A little later in the verse, Megan laughs at dudes who try to get famous by saying they’ve been with her.

Bodies on bodies on bodies on bodies
Say he fucked Megan and now he the topic
These niggas thinkin’ they lowered the value
All this free promo, I’m turnin’ a profit

In the next lines, Megan seemingly takes shots at Nicki Minaj, whose husband, a registered sex offender, is undoubtedly familiar with Megan’s Law, the federal law that requires law enforcement to alert the public about sex offenders. (These bars inspired Nicki to clap back on Instagram Live.)

These hoes don’t be mad at Megan, these hoes mad at Megan’s Law
I don’t really know what the problem is, but I guarantee y’all don’t want me to start
Bitch, you a pussy (You a pussy), never finna check me (Yeah)
Every chance you get, bet your weak ass won’t address me (Ho)

At the start of the second verse, Megan boasts about her success when it comes to legal matters. She’s presumably talking about her cases against Tory Lanez—who was sentenced to 10 years after being found guilty of shooting her in the foot—and 1501 Certified Entertainment, the label she split with last year after a prolonged court battle. In light of these wins, Megan compares herself to notorious mobster John Gotti, dubbed the “Teflon Don” for his ability to skirt the law.

Nigga, ain’t you hear? I ain’t scared of dick
Any man go against me, I handle shit (Handle shit)
I’m the Teflon Don in the courtroom (Yeah)
They be throwin’ that dirt, don’t shit stick (Shit stick)

She ends the verse by harking back to her declaration of “Hot Girl Summer” in 2019 and insisting that none of her so-called rivals are actually rivals.

Ever since I claimed the summer, all you bitches want a season (All you bitches want a season)
Ask a ho why she don’t like me, bet she can’t give you a reason
You know motherfuckin’ well these bitches wanna sound like Tina
Don’t you ever grab a mic and think that me and you competin’, hmm

“I’m saying a hit dog gonna holler—that’s it,” Megan Thee Stallion said of “HISS” this morning on The Breakfast Club.
