Playboi Carti hasn’t released an album in three years, but he’s remained part of the conversation in 2023. He appears on “FE!N,” one of the biggest tracks off Travis Scott’s blockbuster album UTOPIA, and back in June, he teamed up with The Weeknd and Madonna for “Popular.” On Friday, Carti returned with a solo single apparently titled “Different Day,” which he posted on Instagram via his @opium_00pium account. It’s not yet available on major streaming services, but it’s sitting inside the Top 10 on the Genius Top Songs chart.
Featuring a tense synth-driven beat, “Different Day” may appear on Carti’s anticipated third album, possibly titled Music or I AM MUSIC. Either way, the song finds Carti enjoying the spoils of fame while remaining vigilant in case of confrontation with enemies. In one section, he describes a memorable fan encounter while seemingly referencing Benji Blue Bills, who released an anti-Carti diss track in 2021.
