Bryson Tiller returns today with his fourth studio album, a self-titled effort that arrives nearly our years after 2020’s A N N I V E R S A R Y. The 19-track collection features just two guests, Victoria Monét and Clara La San, and as he recently told Complex, that’s a result of his impatience in the studio.
“I’ll be in the studio and I’ll have a song with an open verse,” he said. “I’ll want maybe two different artists on it and I’m just like, ‘I can rap too, I’m probably better than that person, so I’m going to just do it myself.’ But also I really just want this album to be about myself more than anything, so I don’t want to bring too many people in.”
Tiller also explained why he opted to make this album self-titled.
“I felt like it wasn’t time to try to get people to believe in some new concept or some new world that I’m trying to create,” he said. “I felt like now is the time to just show people what I’m capable of.”
