Alt-R&B singer-songwriter serpentwithfeet returns today with GRIP, his third studio album and first since 2021’s Deacon. According to a press release, the 13-track collection “explores the profound depths of intimacy between a romantic partner” and “celebrates and fosters the spirit and magic of Black queer nightlife while also honoring the communities that are nurtured within the walls of these intimate spaces and the monumental impact that they have on the lives of many people on the margins.”
GRIP includes the pre-release singles “Ellipsis,” featuring Orion Sun; “Safe Word”; and “Damn Gloves,” with Ty Dolla $ign and Yanga YaYa.
The album comes on the heels of Heart of Brick, a dance theater production featuring music from the new LP.
