Yo Gotti Explains How His Mom Taught Him To Be A Hustler

It wasn’t a man who showed Gotti how to move in the streets.

Hip-hop’s hustle narrative is a conversation dominated by men. But ask hustle god Yo Gotti, and he’ll tell you that a woman taught him how to work the streets.

On “Momma,” a track off of Gotti’s newly released The Art of Hustle LP, the Memphis MC salutes his mother and aunts, lauding them as queenpins. “All the motherfuckin’ heart I got, everything I been through in the streets, I learned from a woman,” he says to start the track.

From there, Yo Gotti raps about the fancy houses and cars that his momma obtained before losing it all when the Feds came knocking. “Momma” is raw and emotional and like nothing we’ve ever heard from Gotti before.

Gotti crashed Genius' Brooklyn HQs to share his hustler family tree.
